Message from Vice Chancellor

Biotech-KISAN scheme of Department of Biotechnology. Ministry of Science and Technology, is a farmer centric scheme for farmers, developed by and with farmers. It is a programme following hub-and spoke model and stimulates entrepreneurship and innovation in farmers and empowers women. The programme will fulfill the technological requirement of farmers, to derive better livelihood for small and marginal farmers. The biotech KISAN Hub-ANGRAU is working in four districts viz., Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Ananthapuramu and Kurnool, mainly aiming at bridging yield gaps in major pulse and oilseed crops. The team conducted baseline survey and identified the technological constraints for getting low yields and designed strategies for the identified constraints to reap higher yields. Under the project, 48 fellow farmers were
identified in four districts and were trained in production technologies in pulses and groundnut and were the resource farmers for Krishi Vigyan Kendras in that district. These services of these fellow farmers were used to monitor the demo farmers and other farmers in that village so as to spread the technologies. The usage of Information Technology tools in extension is highly appreciable in Biotech KISAN Hub project.
In this context, I express my thanks to the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology for considering Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University for establishing Biotech KISAN Hub and sanctioning required budget and support. I also congratulate the efforts of the Principal Investigator Dr T. Srinivas and his team on successful conduct of the project for 2018-19 and getting laurels from the Department of Biotechnology.
I heartily express all my good wishes for the team of Biotech KISAN Hub in future endeavors.

(Dr V. DAMODARA NAIDU)
